Learn how plastic affects wildlife with Bristol Zoological Society

Knot Your Net banner

This year’s Bristol Zoological Society marquee is all about plastic- how it affects wildlife, how it affects us and what we can do to minimise the problems. Spot hidden animal pictures around the tent and keep an eye out for a 5 foot hedgehog!

Exhibits include an area about Bristol Zoo Garden’s Knot Your Net campaign, which aims to get people knotting any discarded netting to prevent wildlife (especially hedgehogs) becoming tangled in it.  Try out loads of different knots to knot your net and save wildlife, plus a knot your net tongue twister.

There will also be a display about countryside and plastic bottles – check out the beautiful hanging plastic bottle planter wall, and make a bird feeder out of a discarded plastic bottle.

Visit the Marine area to learn about plastic and the environment, turtles, fish, whales and microplastics and microbeads. Learn about the bioaccumulation of microplastics, try and identify the body scrub with plastic microbeads, and sieve through beach trash to find the microplastics.
