Roads to Sustainability: The Role of Behaviour Change

THIS EVENT HAS PASSED
Wednesday 5 June, 6pm-7pm East Building Lecture Theatre 1.1, University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7AY
This event is part of the Minerva Series of Lectures
With Professor Bas Verplanken, University of Bath in conversation with Amy Coulthard, Avon Wildlife Trust.
Moving towards sustainable existence is arguably the greatest long-term challenge humans have ever faced. The rate at which we introduce changes to the Earth’s surface and atmosphere exceeds nature’s ability to absorb these without leading to major consequences. Human behaviour makes a significant contribution to what is happening. In this introduction Bas Verplanken will explore why people behave as they do, and why this often leads to unsustainable choices. He will then critically review some avenues to change, highlighting traditional and less traditional solutions. This introduction will then be followed by a Q & A with Amy Coulthard and the audience.
