Festival of Nature – what a week (and what a year!)
12th June 2021
Our 19th Festival of Nature has flown by! For many reasons, it will be a very memorable one. When we sat down to plan this year’s festival, we always knew that Covid-19 would make it difficult (or impossible) to run the large events we had become known for. But we also knew that we didn’t want to take a year off. We were inspired from the beginning by research from Natural England’s People and Nature survey, showing that not only 45% of us spent more time in nature during Covid, but also that nearly half of us needed nature for our wellbeing and mental health.
This year’s Festival has all been about ‘Actions for Nature’, and has been a tremendous effort by all 14 of our Consortium partners, as well as community groups and voices from across the city. We’re so excited that this year’s audio, digital and online programme has generated an extraordinary bank of content, that we can continue to share over the next year to help everyone continue to take action for nature – to address the ecological emergency – but also for our wellbeing.
We hope you have enjoyed this year’s festival, and that you’ll continue to share the content, and share your feedback with us. We look forward to returning bigger than ever for our 20th anniversary next year, and look forward to welcoming you to some of our other events in the meantime!
A Huge thank you from the Festival of Nature team to everyone who took part in this year's celebrations!
