Festival of Nature Professional Development and Networking series

10th May 2022

Reconnect with the sector, build your networks, improve your practice, and reconnect with nature.

Festival of Nature has returned in 2022, and after two years online we’re excited to be running a mixed programme of live events across the region with a strong digital offering.

A huge part of the programme is reaching audiences in the region with new and innovative events, activities and opportunities to connect with the natural world. Yet we also know that it’s a big opportunity to reconnect the environmental sector in the region, and create opportunities for shared learning and networking.

Whether you’re a professional, a volunteer, an academic – leading your organisation or taking your first career steps – please do get stuck in during the Festival week and join us at one (or a few!) our of sector-facing events.

Nature Visuals - Climate Outreach at the Pervasive Media Studio (Free to attend in person or online)

Friday 10 June | 1 - 2pm

Photos of the natural environment do not reflect the social, ethnic or geographic diversity of the country, which may create barriers to some people enjoying and feeling a sense of belonging in  nature. How can we build a better, more inclusive visual language?

The Planetary Crisis - telling a story that brings positive change (Pay what you like)

Tuesday 14 June | 7 - 8pm

The warming climate, the loss of nature – our planet is in crisis. How do we motivate the huge changes we need to rescue the situation in time? Join Colin Butfield and Jonnie Hughes from Studio Silverback as they share the secrets of their successes in taking the story of our environment to the mass audience with an industry show and tell before leading a wider conversation. Whether you’re a professional, volunteer, academic or commentator, join us to get inspired, share your ideas, and build your Bristol network of passionate environmentalists over a drink in the Bristol Old Vic bar.

Green Social Prescribing events (Free to attend)

Various locations and dates across the Festival week

If you’re interested in learning more about green social prescribing, or if you are looking to spend some time during the week reconnecting with nature, we’d warmly welcome you to join a short, outdoors session during the working day.

Festival of Nature has joined forces with Natural England and NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire to organise a series of Green Social Prescribing taster sessions across Bristol and Bath.

This is a great opportunity to try a new activity, or visit a new site, either for yourself or to build connections for your organisation.
