Join the Festival of Nature's Family Nature Party on Sunday 12 June!
Family Nature Party is a free entry all-day event aimed at under 10’s. The day will include workshops, storytelling, music, arts and crafts, toddler sessions, games and inspiration for kids and parents to take action for nature and find out about the natural world.
The party will take place at Bristol Beacon from 10am-4pm, with lots of exciting organisations and community groups taking part.
There’ll be loads of interactive family friendly activity stalls to explore from Avon Wildlife Trust, Bristol Avon Rivers Trust, Bristol Rainforest, Greenpeace, Project Splatter, Sharks4Kids, University of Bristol, University of the West of England, We the Curious, and Woodland Trust.

Main Stage
Join in with music, performances, storytelling, and talks on the main stage! Featuring:
An animal electro dance party from family favourite Poco Drom!
Poco Drom is ready to rock your wild and wonderful world with a paw full of animal songs that will have you bouncing and roaring along. Slow worms, penguins, cheetahs, badgers and a menagerie of other awesome beasts form the sound track to an electro dance party like no other. Animal costumes optional...bouncing up and down compulsory!!!
Woodland Trust Storytelling Special
Storyteller extraordinaire Michael Loader has teamed up with the Woodland Trust to bring you the story The Man Who Planted Trees, in this Family Nature Party special.

Workshops

Trymwood Studio’s Fledglings Toddler Session: Dragonfly Drones
10am – 10:45am
Join Trymwood Studios for a celebration of these incredible prehistoric creatures through song, poetry, storytelling and zoom home with your own beautiful dragonfly.
This nature-based toddler workshop is for accompanied children aged 0-5 years.

Beetle Collaging with Illustrator Marian Hill
10am – 10:45am and 11:00-11:45am
Get crafty with illustrators Marian Hill and Emily McCulloch.
Create your own beautiful collaged beetle, butterfly or moth using old magazines in this fun workshop, suitable for all ages.

Wildflower Seed Bomb Workshop by Nature Nurture Kids
10am – 10:20am, 10:30-10:50am, and 11am – 11:20am
Throw some colour into the world whilst helping local wildlife like insects, butterflies and bees!
In this hands-on workshop hosted by Nature Nurture Kids, children will have the opportunity to learn how to make wildflower Seed Bombs.

Drama Workshop with Hannah-Rose
11am-12noon and 2-3pm
Combining stories, games, songs, props and sensory play, Hannah-Rose’s drama adventures are an unforgettable experience for young people.
Join her at the Festival of Nature as she takes you on a magical camping adventure! We’ll be building dens, exploring forests, and singing campfire songs!
Perfect for adventurers aged 2 to 4 and 4 to 6.

1pm - 1:45pm
Hopkins & Oliver lead a song writing workshop for families. Come and be part of a fun and exciting group collaboration where we’ll make a brand new song celebrating the natural world.
Songs written in the workshop will be performed on stage by Hopins and Oliver at 3pm!

1:15-1:45pm and 2-2:30pm
Discover more about our sensational local native tawny owl and have a go at dissecting a real owl pellet and find out exactly what your owl has been eating! Will it be a vole, a mouse, a shrew or will there be some other unusual discovery?!
This session will be led by environmental education specialists My Green World: https://www.mygreenworld.co.uk/

Forest Bathing: Mother Nature Project Taster Session
2pm – 4pm
A relaxing forest bathing session for caregivers and their babies.
Are you a caregiver for a baby under one? Are you interesting in trying ‘forest bathing’ with your baby? We welcome you to join us for a mini-taster session and discussion.
Come along with your baby to Brandon Hill Park - about a 10-15 minute walk from Bristol Beacon. Accredited forest bathing practitioners will guide you and your little one to connect with nature, for a fun and lively 45 minute taster session. Afterwards, we’ll head back to Bristol Beacon, to discuss our experiences over a cup of tea.

2:45pm - 3:15pm and 3:30pm - 4pm
Join us in creating a beautiful rustic willow bird feeder to hang in the garden and help look after our spectacular garden birds throughout the summer and into the colder months of the year. Practise your skills with this amazing bendy wood and together discover what you can produce in only a few minutes!

Trymwood Studio’s Fledglings Toddler Session: Fantastic Fungi
3pm - 3:45pm
Join Trymwood Studios as they explore the wonderful and mysterious world of fungi with singing, poetry, storytelling and clay-modelling.
This nature-based toddler workshop is for accompanied children aged 0-5 years.
