Wildlife Friendly Gardening – Tips from allotment holders
17th February 2023
In January 2023, South Gloucestershire Council and The Natural History Consortium delivered three
workshops for allotment holders on wildlife friendly gardening. These aimed to support allotment holders
to garden without using chemical pesticides and encourage more wildlife and pollinators.
Thank you to everyone that came along and shared their gardening tips and advice on alternatives to
chemical pesticides. We created a document to share the most frequently mentioned tips and
suggestions from these discussions.
The document covers:
- Allotment holders most challenging pests and their impacts
- Tips and solutions for creating alternatives to chemical pesticides
- Top wildlife-friendly gardening tips
- Useful resources on supporting wildlife on allotments
