‘Establish the Bristol Wildlife Index to establish a baseline and track change towards 2030’ – One City EES action
A group of One city partners have been considering which species would be most appropriate to use to monitor change in species numbers and diversity.
- A formal working group of those who record, collate and coordinate species data has been established to agree the list and how data will be collected, collated and reported and funded.
- The group includes the Natural History Consortium who coordinate City Nature Challenge and Bioblitz, and Bristol Regional Environment Records Centre (BRERC) who collate species data for the region, both universities, and Bristol Naturalist Society.
- The aim is to have an initial list by end of this year that can be extended as more data becomes available for species that we currently lack data.
