Bristol Avon Catchment Partnership – Catchment Plan 2022-2027

24th May 2022

The Bristol Avon Catchment Partnership has recently published the Catchment Plan 2022-2027.

The Catchment Partnership works with over 30 organisations including water companies and local authorities who are all committed to improving the water environment and delivering the following partnership vision:

"For all rivers and water habitats in our catchment to be nature-rich, resilient and enjoyed by current and future generations."

The newly published Catchment Plan includes a focus on four key aims:

  • Enhance people’s enjoyment and connection with the water environment
  • Improve water quality
  • Restore biodiversity and ecological connectivity
  • Adapt and build resilience to a changing climate

This Plan includes agreed Partnership Actions to help focus resources and deliver collaborative action that will secure long-term, positive change for our water environment. It is an important part of our region’s response to the Climate and Ecological Emergencies and recognises Bristol One City Ecological Emergency Strategy’s goal to improve water quality to support healthy wildlife.

BACP provides an annual Catchment Partnership Fund supported by BCC and is working with partners to produce a Fish Recovery Strategy.
