Kat Machin (she/her) is Head of Community Engagement Campaigns and lead of the People’s Plan for Nature at WWF-UK. Kat’s focus is on building people-power to address the systemic drivers of biodiversity loss and climate change in the UK and globally. Kat has 10 years’ experience in the environment sector, following a squiggly career from field biologist to campaigner and movement builder. At WWF-UK, Kat leads a team whose focus is on supporting community-led action to accelerate the nature and climate movement in the UK. This includes leading the People’s Plan for Nature, the outcome of the first ever UK-wide citizens assembly on nature. The People’s Plan calls for urgent, immediate action – from governments, businesses, charities, organisations, farmers and communities – to protect and fundamentally change how we value nature.
