Saira is a Landscape Architect, and Team Leader of Bradford Council’s Landscape Design & Conservation Team, a multidisciplinary team of dedicated professionals driven by the importance of placemaking in shaping our society and environment. She has worked with local communities and organisations, using appropriate consultation approaches making safer and more attractive places and to provide a high quality landscape and environmental design and advisory service to the authority and its strategic partners. Saira’s work over the past fifteen years demonstrates the massive impact that a local authority landscape design team can deliver to the community. This was recognised by the European Commission’s Regio Stars Awards 2021 and Future Place Programme 2018. Saira has been awarded British Professional Architect of the Year 2023 at the inaugural British Asian Professional Awards and was the Susdrain’s SuDS ‘Rising Star’ Champion 2021. She received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bradford in 2022 for her ‘significant commitment to improving the environment, her work on Climate Change and the promotion of greener, healthier communities’.
