Elaine Mulcahy is the director of the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, which is an alliance of more than 40 UK-based health organisations with a shared vision for a sustainable, just, healthy world. Elaine has a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Strathclyde and completed post-doctoral research in neurophysiology at the University of Sydney and Australian National University. She has extensive experience working in health and science communications and strategic leadership roles including editor of the nanotechnology magazine NANO and Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. She has written several articles on the intersection between nature, climate and health.
In her role at the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, she brings together health professionals to advocate for just responses to the climate and ecological crisis, promote the health benefits that flow from those responses, and empowers members and health professionals to make changes in their professional and personal lives to respond to the crisis.
