City Nature Challenge is back for 2022!

31st March 2022

City Nature Challenge UK is back for 2022, and we want you to help us record the wildlife you find in your local area.

Join residents in 400+ cities across the world in an epic, global mission to record as many nature sightings as possible over four days. Help put wildlife on the map in the UK and your region from Friday 29 April – Monday 2 May.

The challenge is a chance for anyone and everyone to contribute to a worldwide study of trees, plants and wildlife, helping to shape conservation efforts, support scientific research developments and inform plans for tackling the ecological emergency.

The Natural History Consortium and Wessex Water are working together to encourage as many people in the Bristol and Bath area to take part and record the nature on their doorstep.

There will be challenge activity hubs popping up in green spaces across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire to help residents learn how to use iNaturalist and join engaging guided nature walks and workshops to practice new wildlife recording skills.

You don’t have to be an expert or even know the name of the species you’ve seen. Just download the free iNaturalist app, take a picture of the nature you find, upload – and share.

Once on the app, join the City Nature Challenge 2022 United Kingdom Project and your regional project page to see live updates on how your local area and the rest of the UK are doing.

City Nature Challenge International is organised by the California Academy of Sciences and Natural History Museum Los Angeles County.
