Running your own Meet the Species Accredited Event!
Are you running a wildlife event in the Spring or Summer of 2012? Then join us in our Olympic challenge and make your event count!

You could be organising a tree walk, a fungi foray or pond dipping session. Whatever the wildlife you’re meeting, you could make your event count on a UK-wide scale by becoming a Meet the Species accredited event, simply by recording the species and sharing the data. The information from your event will create an Olympic-scale snapshot of wildlife in the UK and help scientists protect species and preserve habitats into the future.
Meet the Species has been inspired by ecologists and designers building the 2012 Olympic Park. They’ve created a world-class sporting venue with 45ha of new wildlife habitat.. They began their design process by surveying the land, learning about the wildlife that lived on the park site and then designing a new park for people, sport and wildlife.
Our special Meet the Species toolkits will give you all you need to make your event part of this major research project; from advice on how to connect up with your local wildlife experts and local records centres to resources that help in identifying species and sharing your information.
Applying to be an accredited event is easy, if you meet the criteria below then just fill in the registration form and we’ll be in touch!
Events should
- take place between 1st March and 9th September 2012
