Bristol's BioBlitz schools programme has been generously suppported by Airbus as a part of their committment to education.

Do your students want to join a mini-beast survey, learn to recognise different bird calls, have a go at pond-dipping, try out various survey techniques, learn about native and non-native species and much more? – All for FREE!
The day is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain a deeper level of understanding of curriculum topics, such as variation, classification, adaptation, different environments, mapping, numeracy and ICT, through hands on experience and learning outside of the classroom.
Students will also be given the opportunity to take part in various activities in the Discovery Tent, learn how they can take part in other wildlife surveys for their school grounds or garden and learn about wildlife film making and photography.
BioBlitz activities are tailored to Key Stage 2, 3 and 4.
Where and When?
The 2010 BioBlitz is running for school groups at the Blaise Castle estate, Lawrence Weston on Friday 21st May from 9:00AM until 3:00PM.
Blaise Castle Estate is a magnificent 650 acre Grade II listed parkland and, with over 5000 years of history, one of Bristol’s gems. With a deep wooded limestone gorge, dramatic scenery, and ancient monuments steeped in folklore, this estate is one of the most magical and romantic landscapes in the west country.
What other schools had to say about the 2009 BioBlitz:
“I am writing to thank you for inviting us to the Ashton Court BioBlitz last Friday. It was a really meaningful learning experience for our children. The event and activities were outstanding and in terms of the quality resources, support staff and provision. We have been able to follow up the activities back at school by using your website and as an opportunity for numeracy and literacy. You have even inspired us to think about conducting our own bioblitz in our school grounds next year!”
“A fantastic day that really engaged the students and helped them see that science takes place outside the classroom. Students very enthusiastic when they returned to school. Hope this is an annual event and we can take part in subsequent BioBlitzes!!”
